Guus Eelink joined TIDA as a postdoctoral researcher in 2024. Prior to that he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker Center at the University of Tübingen (2022-2024). He completed his doctorate on Plato’s Theaetetus at the University of Oxford (2020), where he also held various teaching positions.
His research interests lie in Plato’s and Aristotle’s epistemology and metaphysics, in particular their accounts of knowledge, belief, and truth. His work as part of TIDA focuses on various aspects of Aristotle’s theory of cognition, including Aristotle’s conception of belief, his account of the difference between scientific knowledge and mere belief, and his theory of truth and of truth-bearers in the contexts of intellectual cognition and of perceptual cognition. Eelink also investigates the ways in which Aristotle’s views and his conceptual framework have been shaped by his engagement with Plato’s thought.
